The Lukar story started well before the year 2000, when Lucian Mihăilescu was looking for a craft that combined creativity with working with his hands. After experimenting with various materials, woodworking turned out to be the right fit.
Today, at the workshop in Bucharest, every chair, bench or piece of furniture is designed and made by hand, with a focus on timeless design — including pieces inspired by the Midcentury aesthetic of the '50s and '60s.

Every order goes through the same four steps, no matter the size of the project.
We visit your space, take measurements, and discuss budget, wood species, and timeline.

We cut, assemble, and finish by hand, checking every joint at each stage.
